Manhattan, NY (August 3, 2023) – One person was killed in a fatal motorcycle accident that took place on a major Manhattan highway on the night of Thursday, August 3.

According to Manhattan Police, the accident happened around 10:56 p.m. on Henry Hudson Parkway around the area of West 125th Street. Police confirmed that a 2017 BMW 328 and a black Mercedes C300 were drag racing in the area when they were involved in a collision with a motorcyclist. The vehicles fled the scene immediately following the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and other New York responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The motorcyclist sustained critical injuries in the accident. They unidentified party was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to these injuries.

The roadway was completely blocked in the area after the accident. Police did not say if they found the responsible drivers who were racing when the accident happened.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision continues.
