West Islip, NY (February 4, 2023) – At 9 p.m. on the night of Friday, February 3, a two-vehicle collision with injuries took place in West Islip.

According to Suffolk County Police, the accident happened around 9 p.m. at 425 Union Boulevard. Police confirmed that a westbound BMW was traveling in the area when their vehicle suddenly collided with a 2015 Toyota sedan that was making a left turn into a parking lot. Both drivers were badly damaged as a result of the collision.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Toyota was identified as a 53-year-old man from West Islip who received serious injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital. The driver of the BMW was taken to the same hospital for treatment of injuries and is expected to be okay.

The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic as police worked to clear the scene. Police urged those in the area to use alternate routes until the scene was fully cleared.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision continues.
