Huntington Station, NY (February 22, 2023) – Two teens sustained injuries in a serious car accident that took place in Huntington Station on Tuesday morning, February 21.

According to Suffolk County Police, the accident happened on Columbia Street around the area of McKay Road at 2:25 a.m. Police confirmed that 19-year-old Luis Reyes was driving his 2013 Honda Civic headed westbound in the area when his vehicle suddenly left the road, striking a tree. The accident led to extensive damage to the involved vehicle.

Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Both Reyes and his passenger, identified as 18-year-old Carlos Mendoza, were seriously injured in the accident. They were airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment, though their current conditions are not yet known.

Due to the severity of the accident, a portion of the road was blocked in the area for some time. This led to delays until police were able to clear the scene.
