Queens, NY – Man Killed in Fatal Drunk Driving Accident at 111th Ave & 117th St
Queens, NY (June 5, 2023) – A man was killed in a fatal drunk driving accident that took place at an intersection in Queens on the morning of Monday, June 5.
According to Queens Police, the accident happened around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of 111th Avenue and 117th Street. Police confirmed that a 22-year-old driver was traveling in the area when he failed to stop at the intersection. He drove on through and crashed into a vehicle with two men inside, causing extensive damages.
Several local responders, including Queens paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. A 64-year-old man in the second vehicle was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The 71-year-old inside that same vehicle was rushed to Jamaica Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the first vehicle was not seriously injured. Police took him into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time.
