Rocky Point, NY (February 1, 2023) – On Monday night, January 30, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident at an intersection in Rocky Point, Long Island.

According to Suffolk County Police, the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 25 and Rocky Point Road. Police confirmed that an adult male pedestrian was walking across the street when he was suddenly struck by a Subaru Forester that was traveling in the area. The driver remained on scene to assist police when they arrived.

Several responders, including Rocky Point paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as 21-year-old Sharif Murray, was tragically pronounced dead on scene due to traumatic injuries.

Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle, a 75-year-old man, and his adult female passenger, were not hurt in the accident. It is not known if they will be receiving any charges for their role in the accident.

A large portion of the road was blocked in the area following the accident.

No further details have been released at this time. Police continue their investigation into the accident.
