Lindenhurst, NY – Two Injured in DUI Accident on Sunrise Hwy
Lindenhurst, NY (February 20, 2023) – Around 8:40 p.m. on Sunday night, February 19, two people sustained injuries in a drunk driving accident in Lindenhurst.
According to local officials, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of the Sunrise Highway around the area of Hubbards Path. Police confirmed that 41-year-old Madison Cedeno was headed east on the highway when his SUV struck a pickup truck in the area, causing the truck to roll over. The SUV then ran into the guardrail nearby, then crashing into the center median. The vehicles involved in the accident sustained severe damages in the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Cedeno, as well as the other driver of the pickup truck, sustained injuries as a result of the collision. They were hospitalized, but they are expected to be okay.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic, which led to extensive delays. Cedeno was found to be intoxicated at the time of the accident and has since been arrested for his role in the accident.
