Queens, NY (March 22, 2023) – Five people sustained injuries in a residential fire that took place in an area of Queens on the morning of Wednesday, March 22.

According to Queens officials, the fire broke out in a residential home at 51 64th Street. Police confirmed that multiple parties called FDNY after they noticed flames escaping out of the home. Fire crews were able to gain access to the home, where they found an e-bike in the residence that may have been the cause of the fire.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Several people sustained injuries in the fire. A total of two civilians were injured and taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. Two other parties inside the home, as well as a responding police officer, sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized. Police confirmed that the injuries included burns and smoke inhalation.

The area was blocked off for some time as fire crews attempted to bring the fire under control. It is not known how long this process took.

The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the fire continues at this time.
